What biteful is

biteful is a food scanning tool that checks health and ingredient claims against peer-reviewed research. It returns Good, Mixed, or Avoid verdicts for foods, ingredient labels, and restaurant menus. It is designed to help you make more informed eating choices.

What biteful is not

biteful is not medical advice. The app does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition. Verdicts are based on publicly available research and should not replace professional medical, dietary, or nutritional advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider for medical decisions.

AI-generated content

Scan results are generated by AI models (xAI Grok, Google Gemini) interpreting research literature. While we strive for accuracy and provide citations, AI can make mistakes. We encourage you to read the cited studies and use your own judgment.

Subscriptions and payments

• Free tier: Limited scans per calendar month, no payment required. Exact limits may change as the product evolves.
• Pro Annual: $9.99/year (USD), auto-renews until cancelled. New subscribers may receive a 7-day free trial; billing starts when the trial ends unless you cancel first.

Subscriptions are managed through Apple's App Store. You can cancel anytime in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → biteful. If you cancel during a free trial, you won't be charged. Apple's refund policy applies to completed purchases.

Your content

Photos you scan are sent to third-party AI providers for processing and are not stored by us. Scan results are stored locally on your device. You retain all rights to your content.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the app
• Use the app to generate misleading health claims
• Resell or redistribute scan results commercially
• Attempt to circumvent subscription or usage limits

Intellectual property

The app, its design, code, and content are owned by biteful. The biteful name, logo, and associated marks are our property. Research citations link to publicly available studies and remain the property of their respective publishers.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, biteful and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising from your use of the app. The app is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We'll post the updated date at the top of this page.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer resides, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
